Exhibitor Interview: Lumistar

Lumistar CMO, Rachel Yang, took some time out ahead of the Channel Summit EMEA to introduce their smart sports tech products Tero and Carry.

What sparked the idea behind Lumistar?

Lumistar was born from a simple frustration: training with ball machines has barely evolved while athletes expect smart, personalised coaching everywhere else in life. The idea was to bring AI-driven, adaptive training into racket and ball sports so players could train smarter without needing a full coaching team on court.

How long has the Tero been in development?

Tero has been in development for multiple years, moving through hardware prototyping, software iteration, and real-world athlete testing to ensure reliability, precision and intelligent performance.

Does it connect via an app/ Explain how it works

Tero is designed as a truly portable, all-in-one training system. The entire setup is compact and easy to carry — you can pick up the racket, balls and the machine with one hand and take everything to the court in a single trip, just like carrying a sleek suitcase. This portability makes high-quality training possible anytime, anywhere.

Control is flexible and intuitive. Tero offers three different ways to operate the device so training feels natural and seamless:

Voice Control – start drills, change settings and adjust sessions hands-free

Gesture Control – simple gestures let you interact with the device during play

App Control – full access to customisation and training insights through the mobile app

Inside the app, users can access five AI-driven training modes designed to adapt and evolve based on performance. As you train, the system learns from your data and continuously optimises future sessions to help you improve faster.

The app also creates a connected training ecosystem where you can:

• Share your performance with the community

• Find and connect with training partners

• Receive full AI performance reports and personalised training recommendations.

Together, the portable design, multi-modal control and intelligent app experience make Tero a complete smart training companion.

Tell us about the smart side of Tero

The Tero has a lot of USPs! Here are a few that we think make it a standout product.

Full-Court Vision System. A powerful vision system positioned at around one metre height can see far and see clearly, covering the entire court. Using advanced image-processing algorithms, fragmented court images and data are seamlessly combined and refined by AI, producing ultra-clear visuals and smooth “camera-like” tracking of ball and player movements.

Fast, Accurate and Reliable Ball Delivery. Tero Pro delivers adaptive training with speed, precision and consistency. Leveraging AI algorithms, it calculates optimal return strategies in just 0.1 seconds, responding like a human opponent. Balls are fed smoothly and reliably, eliminating jams or missed feeds so training stays uninterrupted.

Human-Like Adaptive Play. The system reacts to your performance in real time, returning balls in a natural, opponent-like manner that evolves with your skill, creating a highly realistic training experience.

Comprehensive AI Performance Reports. Tero taps into tens of thousands of real match data points to generate detailed AI-driven insights. These reports track progress over time, highlight strengths and weaknesses, and provide professional, personalised training recommendations so players always know how to improve.

Multiple AI Modes Tero offers a variety of AI-driven training modes tailored to different skill goals:

1. Ready Mode – targets your weaknesses, delivering shots specifically designed to improve them

2. Partner Mode – acts as a slightly stronger training partner to spar and challenge you

3. Challenge Mode – designed for progression: if you beat it at your current level (e.g., 2.0), you advance to the next level (e.g., 2.5), continuously leveling up

4. Truly Random Mode – completely unpredictable shot placement to improve reaction and adaptability

5. All Star Game – simulates playing against top pros, like Roger Federer, for a high-level match experience

Aside from tennis, you've also created a product for basketball players?

Yes, the Carry is a AI Triple-Camera Movable Basketball Shooting Machine. It's designed around one core advantage: true portability. Unlike traditional, bulky shooting machines that are difficult to transport and set up, Carry features a foldable structure that compacts into a small, easy-to-carry form. You can move it around, bring it to the court, and deploy it quickly—making high-level training far more accessible and convenient.

Equipped with a triple-camera AI system, Carry tracks your position in real time and delivers passes based on where you are on the court, just like a real teammate reading your movement. Whether you’re relocating, spotting up, or coming off a cut, the ball arrives where you need it, creating a natural and game-like rhythm.
After each session, Carry generates an AI-powered performance report with detailed shooting metrics, including accuracy, release timing, consistency, and shot distribution. Every workout becomes measurable, structured, and data-driven. Compact in form, intelligent in function, Carry brings professional-level basketball training wherever you play.

ScreenShot_2026-02-13_123819_739Sport is a huge industry but what’s the market potential for the Tero?

Sport is massive, but training technology is still early in its smart evolution. The opportunity sits at the intersection of consumer tech, coaching and performance analytics. Tennis and basketball represent huge global participation bases and strong demand for solo training solutions.

Growth in at-home and self-guided training, plus rising participation across Europe, the US and Asia, creates strong demand for intelligent training equipment that bridges the gap between amateur and professional coaching.

Have you had any interesting players or pros test out the Tero?

Yes. Early testing has included advanced players and professionals who helped validate performance, reliability and training value during development.

The Tero is launching in March; which markets are you prioritising in the EMEA region?

The UK, France, Germany and Spain are key priorities due to strong tennis participation, mature sporting retail ecosystems, and high adoption of premium consumer tech. These markets provide the ideal launchpad for broader European expansion.

What type of channel partners are you looking for at Channel Summit?

Target partners include:

• Specialist sports retailers

• Premium consumer electronics retailers

• E-commerce leaders

• Distributors with strong sport or tech portfolios

The focus is on partners who understand performance technology and premium training equipment.
